Wendy’s used Guerrilla Marketers this winter to promote their new coffee all over Manhattan. GC Street Teams rose to the challenge and woke up early in the morning to give free samples of Wendy’s Redhead Roasters to sleepy New Yorkers on their way to work!

Despite the cold, the Guerrilla Marketers grinned their way through thousands of free samples and plenty of brand messaging and had a great time doing it!

Finding the right people to work an event can be hard. Sometimes you’re looking for something very specific and you’re just too busy planning the rest of the event to try and find the perfect person. That’s where GC Marketing Services comes in! We know how important it is to have the right face representing your brand, and we’re ready to find them for you. Whether you’re in Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami, New York or anywhere in between, GC has your staffing solutions. Thousands of Brand Ambassadors are ready and eager to work for your brand.
GC Marketing Services’ Staffing Solutions:
Options – With 70,000 independent contractors nationwide, you can find exactly what you’re looking for to make your event a success. Whether it’s 6-foot tech savvy blondes, athletic and bilingual trade show reps, or kid-friendly reps to be your costume characters, GC can find exactly what you’re looking for.
- Applicant Screening - Since it’s your event, you should be able to choose who works! Once we’ve collected all the independent contractors who want to work the event, you have the opportunity to make final selections. This can be done using their head shots and application questions, phone interviews, or video-chats depending on how much you’d like to be involved in selection.
- Triple Confirmation – Once you’ve selected your Brand Ambassadors, GC calls them to confirm by phone that they’re still available and interested in working and understand all the duties they will be responsible for. Then talent receives an email reminder that they must confirm. Finally, the day before the event, the account managers call them again by phone to make sure they’re ready to work.
- 24/7 Availability – If something changes at the last minute and you need more staff than you anticipated, GC account managers can get on the phone and find the last-minute staff you need.
- Review and Recap – After the event ends, GC collects feedback from clients on everyone who worked for them, allowing us to be familiar with the work-style and personalities of our Brand Ambassadors.
All of the GC account managers are dedicated to the success of your events and are eager for new staffing challenges. For a free quote, get in touch with GCMS today!

SXSW is an incredibly exciting trade show, festival, conference, and party all rolled into one! The brand presence at SXSW (held every Spring in Austin, TX) is impressive to say the least. This show draws thousands of people every year.
Thousands of people attract tons of companies and brands… and where there are brand promotions there are brand ambassadors! Here are some tips from GC and some veteran BAs (thank you Carolyn Land and Christine Zolotova!) who have worked at SXSW before. We’d also like to give a special shout-out to a great resource for Brand Ambassadors, the Facebook group USA Promotional Talent Lifeline.
SXSW Tips for Talent
- Hydrate – Working SXSW is a big undertaking. If you’re at the client’s booth all day long you might forget to get a drink of water. Come with a bottle of water (or a couple!) so that you don’t get dehydrated. Bringing some snack bars isn’t a bad idea either. You don’t want to be hungry or thirsty while you’re trying to stay focused on your job.
- Engage – Everyone is more relaxed at SXSW because it’s also supposed to be a fun few days. Even though someone is dressed in comfortable street clothes, it doesn’t necessarily mean that they’re not a key player in a company or a big potential customer. Talk to everyone and always be on your game!
- Don’t stay out too late – Besides the daytime activities and promos, SXSW is known for the free company-sponsored parties every night! If you’re working these events, enjoy the festive atmosphere! If you’re just trying to unwind after a long day working the trade show, don’t stay out past your bedtime! Plan ahead and decide what time you should leave in order to get enough sleep to be well-rested for the next day.
- Plan your travel – Reps who have been at SXSW know that driving from location to location during this event is a bad idea. The traffic is terrible and parking is a nightmare (and expensive)! Take a pedicab or some free rides from Chevy.
Be nice – With so many people, crowd control isn’t so much a courtesy or hassle as it is a safety necessity. If you’re trying to get into a great party, be really nice to the bouncers–they’re almost all volunteers. Besides, they probably know all the best spots and know exactly how to help you get in!
- Plan ahead (but stay flexible!) – There are some great restaurants in the area. Christina recommends Koriente (E 7th/Red River) and El Camino (off E 6th).
So get out there, have fun, and stay safe!

If you’ve never heard of South by Southwest (SXSW) then you’re in for a treat! Held in Austin, TX in the Spring every year, SXSW includes a number of distinct divisions including SXSW Music, SXSW Film, SXSW Interactive, SXSWedu, SXSWeco, and SXSW Comedy. Putting all of these together it’s a festival, conference, and trade show all rolled up into one two-week advertising paradise!
Not only is it a great marketing and networking opportunity, there are tons of free sponsored parties!
If you’re planning on having an event or advertising at SXSW, where do you even begin?
What to remember when planning for SXSW
- Establish goals – Don’t get wrapped up in all the chaos and excitement of SXSW. It’s an enormous event and it’s easy to forget why you’re there. If you’re going there to collect leads, your staff had better keep their clipboards, iPads, or other data collection materials with them at all times! If the goal is brand awareness, make sure your staff is on the ground during high traffic times with some great company swag!
- Don’t get intimidated – Even though your company might not have the largest or shiniest booth at the trade show, it’s still a tremendous opportunity to market your brand! Don’t get wrapped up in what other companies are doing, just focus on your own goals for each day.
- Be comfortable – Endurance is the name of the game with a conference like SXSW! The long hours of standing in a booth, shaking hands, smiling, and brand messaging followed by long nights of sponsored parties can make for some very uncomfortable hours! Make sure you pack comfortable clothes and shoes (ladies, if you’re going to be working in heels, check out our post on working in heels) and always make sure to get enough sleep!
- Follow through – The show might be over but that doesn’t mean that you don’t still have work to do! If you made networking connections during SXSW, be sure to stay in touch with them!
- Don’t be shy – Events like this are all about being confident and meeting new people. Just being present at SXSW isn’t enough. You have to actively engage with potential clients or potential business partners (or current ones!) in order to really reap the benefits of having made the trek to Austin.
- Get a map – It’s a big place.

Cars! They’ve part of an enormous advertising industry and GC staffs tons of events every year that take place at auto-shows, NASCAR events, and dealerships all over the US. One key element present in almost every live car promotion are the car show girls. Why is this?
Car Show Girls

- Status Symbols – Sleek and expensive new cars are seen as physical manifestations of success. To hammer this idea home, many companies pair glamorous cars with glamorous women. This reinforces the idea that owning a particular car with sexy associations will also make the owner of the car seem sexier.
- Hot Sells - Scientific research shows that hot women make men want to spend more money. By this logic, companies should be filling their show-rooms with hot women… and many do!
- Experienced Marketers - They make it look very easy, but GC Promo Girls are seasoned trade show veterans that know exactly what they’re doing. Their outgoing natures and friendly demeanors are perfectly suited to brand messaging and interacting with strangers and they greet new situations and challenges with calm composure.
If you’re interested in having some great GC Car Show Girls for your next event, just get in touch with GC and we’ll send you a free proposal for your event.
