Brand Marketers & Blogs

Last week GC responded to the first question from Greer’s guest blog post in a post called Promo Staff Profiles: Getting Picked for Events. This week, we’re answering three more of her questions!

If you’re reading this post, leave us a comment! If you’re from another promo staffing company let us know what YOUR answers to these questions are! If you’re talent, let us know what you think–we love hearing what you have to say!

1. What is the best way for talent to stay in touch, but not become a nuisance?

Our social media platforms exist specifically to promote conversation between GC and GC talent. Find us on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and LinkedIn to say hello or ask any questions you might have! Alternatively, you can also always email us at webmaster@gcmarketingservices.com with specific questions and we’ll make sure your inquiry gets to the right person.

We also love it when talent emails us photo/video content from events or posts tips for other reps on our social media pages. This is a GREAT opportunity for talent to stay on our radar. It’s a very positive way to keep building the GC community and none of it goes unnoticed.

One thing the account managers have a hard time with is fielding phone calls and responding to emails from talent asking about the booking process or expressing interest in events—we love it when people are enthusiastic about promotions but it can really hold up the booking process. The account managers are incredibly busy so let them get back to booking talent! Instead, email the webmaster, check out the GC FAQ page, or reach out on social media with questions!

2. Do marketing companies follow each other’s blogs?

At GC, absolutely! We read a lot of blogs. They’re a great way to keep thinking flexibly, see what other conversations are going on, learn from the accumulated knowledge base of other companies, and soak up all sorts of cool things going on in the industry. Plus, it’s fun!

3. What are you hoping talent will gain from your blog posts?  Do you feel like its working?

The GC blog does a number of things! First and foremost we hope that it’s helping to create a community. We highlight outstanding talent we’ve worked with, recap events, introduce the GC account managers, cover relevant news, provide helpful tips, hold contests, and try to share a little bit of the office with everyone. Whether talent enjoys hearing about how hard it is to refill our water cooler or prefers learning how to be a better brand ambassador, we try to have something for everyone!

Next week we’ll answer:

  • Do you consider your company active on its Facebook page?  What type of things do you post?
  • What are you hoping talent will gain from your tweets on Twitter?

Have a rocking rest of the week! If you know of a company that might be interested in hiring promo staff, have them get in touch with us!

For the right people in the right places,

The GC Marketing Services Team
