Promo Staff Profiles: Getting Picked for Events

Good morning, GC talent! Happy Friday!

Earlier this week Greer contributed another wonderful guest blog entitled Are Talent & Agencies Being Effective through Social Networking? GC wanted to join the conversation and start responding to some of the questions she posed. Tune in next week to see the answers to the other questions she asked!

Greer: What are you looking for on a talent’s profile? What makes it good or bad?

Headshots: Many clients are trying to find a specific look to represent their company for a promotion so it’s crucial to be able to understand what talent looks like. Serious dramatic photos are nice, but they’re out of place in event staffing. What clients really need to be able to see when making booking decisions is what you’ll look like when you’re working for them—smiling! Nice clear photos that show you looking natural are absolutely the best. Check out some GC headshot do’s and don’ts.

Profiles: It’s also very important to fill out all of the details. It might seem silly to have to put down your jacket size, eye color, height, shoe size, etc., but for events where we’re trying to find something very specific we narrow our searches using these criteria. If you don’t fill out these details we might not send you an event that you’re perfect for!

Applications: When you want to work an event it’s crucial to fill out all application questions. If someone doesn’t fill out all the questions we assume that they’re not that interested. The lack of effort is a bad sign that they probably won’t be very diligent if we book them for the job. Clients also review applications so make sure to use full sentences with correct grammar! For prior experience, just let us know some relevant promotions you worked on, do *not* copy and paste your entire resume!

Next week we’ll answer:

  • What is the best way for talent to stay in touch, but not become a nuisance?
  • Do marketing companies follow each other’s blogs?
  • What are you hoping talent will gain from your blog posts?  Do you feel like its working?
  • Do you consider your company active on its Facebook page?  What type of things do you post?
  • What are you hoping talent will gain from your tweets on Twitter?

We hope you all have great weekends! Do you know a company that might have need of a promo staffing agency? Just have them get in touch for a free quote!
